Required Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree in a health care discipline is required; Masters preferred. A combination of clinical experience and education will be considered. A minimum of five (5) years health care/clinical experience is required. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered. Working knowledge of the health care system is required. Working level body of knowledge in patient safety theory and application. Skills and knowledge of quality and process improvement methodologies are required. Project management experience preferred Must be proficient in working with computer programs such as outlook, word, excel, PowerPoint, Requires in-depth knowledge at the expert level of the theory and application of patient safety principles, reviews, processes, and tools. Experience with patient safety review or investigation experience as a Clinical Safety Leader, including at least five (5) complex investigations handled. Completion of the Patient Safety Certificate (AHS Integrated Quality Curriculum) an asset including: AHS’s “Fundamentals of Patient Safety” course, Adverse Event Methodology and “Disclosure of Unanticipated Medical Outcomes” (DUMO) course.

Team leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within an operating environment. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within an organization and ideally managing within a unionized sector. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Effective leadership abilities combined with a strong commitment to operating within a team environment and the ability to motivate and inspire other to achieve common goals. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills. Ability to plan, organize and manage short and long term plans and projects and deliver customer-focused results. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst, and build solid relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

Progressive leadership experience in a health environment, 2 years’ experience in a management role in health considered an asset.
