Required Qualifications:

A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience as a clinical coding specialist, preferred. Successful completion of post secondary education in Health Information Management, Health Informatics or a health-related field in an organization of significant size, scope, complexity and diversity plus appropriate certification, licensure or recognized designation, required. An understanding of the clinical and administrative uses of SNOMED CT with successful completion of course offerings through SNOMED International or post-secondary education with certification in Terminology Standards, preferred. An appreciation and understanding of the design of classifications and reference terminologies and their applied use in clinical information systems with an initial primary focus upon ICD-10-CA, ICD-9-CM, CCI and SNOMED CT. Familiarity with domain-specific classifications and clinical terminologies is an asset such as lab, nursing, allied health, etc.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Intermediate to expert skills in Microsoft Office including Excel with table management and manipulation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with the use of vFire for issue intake, management and resolution.
