Your Opportunity:

Assisted Living Alberta is dedicated to Enhancing Care in the Community, helping people be healthy, well and independent in their homes and communities. For more information Assisted Living Alberta Edmonton Zone Continuing Care provides services through five main program areas: Home Living, Supportive Living, Facility Living, Transition Services and Palliative Care. The Operations Manager, Allied Health & Specialty Services, in the Facility and Supportive Living Program, is responsible for the delivery of allied health services within Contracted Service Provider sites across the Edmonton Zone. There is a strong focus on client centered care, and the development and monitoring of staff and material resources. Supporting staff individually and within teams is fundamental to this position. Strong communication skills facilitate the internal function of this role and promote and maintain external partnerships essential in the delivery of care. The incumbent will provide strong leadership and mentoring to front-line staff, manage resource allocation within the assigned area, and participate in Facility and Supportive Living management processes and meetings.

Description:

Resource Management: Manages day-to-day operations & provides leadership to an interdisciplinary team of clinical professionals. Will monitor & implement changes to structure, processes & procedures to achieve improved outcomes in client service delivery, quality of care & resource utilization. Service Delivery: Fosters client centered care & monitors effectiveness of service delivery. Ensures services are delivered in accordance with relevant legislation & ALA policies and protocols. Collaborates with staff to resolve complex client/family issues/risk issues. Reports issues to the Program Manager that impact, or have the potential to impact, the network/program area or zone. Makes operational decisions within assigned area of responsibility based on critical review of clinical information, workload data & fiscal resources. Coordination & Communication: Promote & maintain internal/external partnerships essential in delivery of care. Broad areas of responsibility include communication & collaboration with other program areas, involvement in zone and provincial planning related to quality service delivery, & research and development. The successful applicant will participate in program management processes, meetings & strategic planning. Staff Development: Fosters an atmosphere conducive to encouraging & meeting staff development needs & student learning experiences. Attendance & Performance: Monitors & documents staff attendance and performance. Provides immediate & constructive feedback while working with staff to facilitate ongoing quality performance. Is accountable for investigation reporting and following up on professional practice issues that impact clients, family, service delivery & program outcomes. Recruitment/Orientation: Participates in recruitment, from identifying the need to facilitating/providing orientation to new hired staff.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in health-related field required (Masters preferred). An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered. Minimum 5 years of clinical allied health experience (in a community environment preferred). Knowledge of Edmonton Zone Continuing Care and its interconnection with other health systems. Knowledge of client centered, interdisciplinary, and collaborative approach to service. Knowledge of internal and external resources relevant to the delivery of allied health services. Strong time management and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Effective conflict resolution and proven leadership skills. Ability to manage competing priorities effectively. Annual membership in good standing with an accredited professional association is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous management experience preferred, however skills and experience relevant to role will be considered. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point), ePeople/ Recruitment Management System, and Environment for Scheduling Personnel (ESP) is preferred.
