The Clinical Operations Informatics Office (COIO) is a specialized team within Digital Health that bridges clinical practice and information technology. We ensure digital tools like Connect Care support clinical workflows, enhance patient care, and align with provincial goals. We advocate for front-line clinicians and guide them through technology adoption using effective communication and change management strategies. We are seeking a dynamic Clinical Informatics Lead (CIL) to support two enterprise wide applications: Healthy Planet and Cheers. Reporting to the Clinical Operations Readiness (CORe) Lead, the CIL plays a key role in integrating clinical knowledge with digital systems to enable safe, effective, and patient-centered care. This role supports healthcare transformation through innovation and data-driven decision-making, contributing to Alberta’s vision of a digitally enabled health system. The CIL will collaborate across governance structures and teams to ensure alignment and integration across care settings. This position offers flexibility in location within Alberta, to be discussed with the hiring manager upon appointment.
Description:
The Clinical Informatics Lead (CIL) supports the strategic design, implementation, and continuous optimization of the Connect Care Clinical Information System. This leadership role requires the coordination of complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives within the Digital Health portfolio, engaging both internal teams and external partners. The incumbent will serve as a critical liaison between clinical operations and digital health services, ensuring that system design and functionality are aligned with the needs of front-line clinicians and broader organizational objectives. The CIL must demonstrate advanced clinical expertise, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to navigate sensitive and politically nuanced environments. A key function of this role is to lead and support change management strategies that facilitate the successful adoption and integration of digital health solutions. The CIL will champion user engagement, promote system usability, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance clinical effectiveness and patient outcomes. This position also plays a pivotal role in supporting Connect Care’s engagement with external stakeholders, including academic institutions, Primary Care Networks, and government agencies, ensuring alignment with provincial health priorities and standards.

Degree in a healthcare-related field (e.g., Nursing, Allied Health, Health Informatics, Health Sciences). Active professional licensure or registration in good standing if applicable. 5 + years of experience leading organizational change for programs or organizations of significant size and complexity, including management and leadership experience. Demonstrated experience with Epic Clinical Information System. Working knowledge of the organization including governance structure and clinical informatics. Strong understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare operations. Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience in digital health or informatics. Knowledge of change management principles.
Additional Required Qualifications:Strong relationship-building and conflict resolution skills. Proven ability to work effectively in Interdisciplinary teams, fostering collaboration across clinical, technical and administrative stakeholders. Strong time management skills with the ability to meet multiple project deadlines with attention to detail are essential. Experience in mentoring and supporting colleagues, contributing to a positive and inclusive team culture. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Willingness to travel and attend meetings at varied times.
Preferred Qualifications:Health Informatics (e.g., CPHIMS-CA, Digital Health Canada). Master’s degree. Completion of PROSCI training or other change management training. Experience in project management.
