The successful applicant will be responsible for registering and maintaining professional licensure with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). Clinical Assistants must meet certain licensure requirements, therefore AHS provides a pre-screening process to help ensure interested individuals satisfy the minimum requirements to be eligible for registration by the CPSA. Currency of practice, including evidence discipline-specific postgraduate training or discipline-specific independent practice within the last 3 years. NOTE: pre-screening does not guarantee an interview or job offer and a final determination of license eligibility is only made by the CPSA after the successful candidate has applied for licensure; pre-screening does not guarantee the successful candidate will be licensed.
Additional Required Qualifications:
English Language Proficiency: As a requirement for licensure by the CPSA, applicants must have achieved a min score within 24 months of registration in either the Academic version of International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Occupational English Test (OET) Medicine examination, or CELPIP General Examination. Test results must be certified (notarized) by a Notary Public or any other government authorized entity. Details are provided on the CPSA website (http://www.cpsa.ca/language-proficiency/). Medical Degree & Transcripts: Must be a graduate of a medical school located outside of Canada and the USA, listed in the Foundation of Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) - International Medical Directory (IMD). Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME): As a requirement for licensure by the CPSA, applicants must have completed at least one full year of hands-on training (outside of Canada and the USA) after having completed their undergraduate medical training, no exceptions. Specialty training must show evidence of being hands on and supervised for it to meet this requirement. Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination Part I (MCCQE1). Applicants must have passed the MCCQE1 prior to application.
Preferred Qualifications:
It is anticipated this will be a highly competitive job posting. Preference will be given to applicants who have recent experience in an acute care facility; specifically, those who have had specific experience within the last 3 years in neurology and epilepsy.
