If you enjoy working with youth in a fast-paced, challenging and rewarding treatment environment, the Edmonton Protection of Children Abusing Drugs (PChAD) Program has an exciting opportunity for you! The PChAD Program is a court-ordered detoxification and assessment program for youth aged 12-17 years, harmfully involved in substance use. Youth are confined in a Protective Safe House for a maximum period of 10 days to safely withdraw from substances, undergo a comprehensive assessment of their use, and receive recommendations on voluntary options post-discharge. As a Client Care Assistant, you are responsible for client engagement, relationship building, client supervision, observation and facilitation of some recreational and psychoeducational groups. Using your experience working with youth in residential care environment, you will: participate in prescribed medication administration practices; facilitate client admissions, discharges and client inventories; intervene to deescalate potentially volatile and aggressive situations, assist with preparing meals as required; perform bed checks as required; assist with minor laundry and housekeeping duties; prepare bedrooms for client admissions; and monitors the facility and ensures all buildings, rooms, and recreational areas are appropriately secure and safe. As a key member of the program team, you will also attend shift exchanges and relay information in an effective and timely manner; review client files regularly; and, communicate observations to the team verbally and in written form. Description:

As a Client Care Assistant, you will work as a team member with all staff assisting in the provision of supportive care to clients with addictions. Your primary duties include providing supportive care to clients, ensuring a safe and secure facility, responding to client requests, communicating effectively with other staff and contributing to a therapeutic environment through interaction with clients. As part of an interprofessional team, you will contribute to the delivery of residential services to persons with an addiction promoting client respect, autonomy, health and improved quality of life. You will support clients to participate in activities of daily living, recreational and social activities, and educational and employment activities. You will also work collaboratively with other health and service providers to maintain a safe and supportive environment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years direct experience working with youth in an inpatient setting. Certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and Suicide Prevention is required. Non GDL license required. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in addiction and/or mental health settings.
