The Brooks Health Centre Medical Device Reprocessing Department is currently hiring a Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT) - Surgical Processor. We provide services to the Surgical/Endoscopy Suite, our hospital sites' programs and the Bassano Health Centre. This is a great opportunity; the city of Brooks is only 1 hour away from Medicine Hat, 1.75 hours away from Lethbridge, and 2 hours from Calgary. Brooks and its surrounding area has lots to offer anyone moving to this area: museums, Tillebrook Provincial Park, Dinosaur Provincial Park, the Aqueduct, golf, sports complexes, shopping and so much more. You must be certified by CSA or HSPA (formerly IAHCSMM) to work as a MDRT in AHS facilities.
Description:
As a Surgical Processor, you will be responsible for the decontamination, reassembly and sterilization of hospital supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation. You will use the principles of aseptic technique and follow Universal Precautions in the prevention of Hospital Acquired Infections (HAI). You will ensure instrumentation and equipment is in proper working order, perform biological, chemical and quality assurance testing and report problems to the supervisor or designate.

Completion of an accredited Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) program. Completion of an Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) certification or Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certification.
Additional Required Qualifications:Must demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing & following written & verbal instructions in English. Demonstrates safe operation of reprocessing equipment, handling of delicate & flexible endoscopes. Rotate through assignments & assist others to complete assignments. Conducts quality monitoring tests to evaluate the operation of the equipment. Understand importance & follows through on maintaining accurate records. Exemplifies critical problem solving/decision.
