Your Opportunity:

The University of Alberta Hospital is seeking a skilled and professional Ticketed Carpenter to join the Facilities Maintenance & Engineering (FME) team. The successful candidate will perform a wide range of carpentry, construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance activities while working safely and respectfully in an active healthcare environment around patients, visitors, healthcare professionals, and facility staff. Key Responsibilities: Perform carpentry, construction, renovation, repair, maintenance, demolition, and building upgrade activities. Install, repair, and modify doors, hardware, millwork, cabinetry, walls, baseboards, and other building components. Perform drywall installation, taping, finishing, and interior wall framing. Measure, cut, fit, install, and finish materials accurately using appropriate tools. Read and interpret drawings, specifications, work orders, project instructions, and complete project assessments and material take-offs. Protect existing finishes, equipment, furnishings, and building systems during construction. Maintain clean, safe, and controlled work areas and follow healthcare infection prevention and control requirements, including dust control, containment, isolation, and housekeeping procedures. Coordinate work with facility staff and other trades to minimize disruption to patient care and hospital operations. Oversee contractors and FME-led projects as assigned. Assist the Architectural Lead Hand with organizing FME projects, distributing workloads, submitting Site-Specific Work Request Permits, and providing guidance to maintenance staff. Identify and report hazards, deficiencies, and unsafe conditions. Complete required work orders, permits, inspection forms, and project documentation. Follow all facility security, health and safety requirements and work cooperatively with staff, contractors, and other trades.

Description:

As a Carpenter , you will perform a wide variety of journeyperson level carpentry duties associated with maintaining, renovating, repairing and construction in accordance with building codes, blueprints and standards and practices. As a Carpenter, you will perform work related to the design, construction and repair of building structures, furniture and fixtures. In addition, you will perform preventative maintenance duties on structures and fixtures. You will be responsible for selecting and ordering appropriate supplies and materials as required.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Journeyperson Carpenter Certificate from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Alberta Journeyperson Carpentry Certificate. Proven experience working in a Healthcare Facility or large institutional Facility.

Preferred Qualifications:
