Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Journeyperson Carpenter Certificate from Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Intermediate technical/professional experience (i.e. 3-5 years) required. Minimum of 5 years varied carpentry experience; Hospital carpentry experience would be an asset. Good knowledge of blue print reading and ability to prepare simple drawings for the construction of new cupboards, counters, etc. Experience in specialty hardware and commercial building systems, cabinet work, ceiling systems, doors, dry wall. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Must be alert, accurate, and reliable. Must be capable of working independently and possess good judgment and initiative. Basic computer Skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Operational experience with starting up new hospital. Experience with setting up a maintenance department. including defining operational requirements, setting up procedures, and training of staff.
