Your Opportunity:

Patient Care Manager: Come join our amazing Calgary Rural Team as a Care Manager (for nursing staff), in a nonunionized position based out of Claresholm. The Care Manager of Continuing Care, will be responsible for providing leadership to an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals dedicated to providing leading care to Albertans. Your leadership, education for, direction and organization of these departments will be in support of the vision, mission and business plan of AHS. The Care Manager, will be making key decisions and establishing and contributing to the achievements and goals of the Seniors Health portfolio. As the Care Manager, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating change management, promoting team development, teamwork and coordinating staffing and clinical work as identified by the Site Manager and Director of Rural Health. The Care Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining an effective framework for the operations of patient care services in order to facilitate the delivery of efficient, effective and safe patient care. You will be implementing staffing strategies and monitoring your staffing portfolio while undertaking risk management, quality assurance and utilization of information. As the successful candidate, you will have experience successfully communicating with different stakeholders and demonstrate a client-centered approach. We are also looking for someone who has the ability to develop creative approaches to client and resident care and who demonstrates sound critical thinking and ethical decision making. Note this position is based out of Claresholm at the Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre (80km north of Lethbridge and 107 km south of the Calgary city limits).

Required Qualifications:

Active registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Bachelor's degree in Nursing required. Master of Nursing preferred, equivalent education/ experience may be considered. Minimum of 5 years of front-line experience with demonstrated leadership competencies (e.g., participation on committees/projects, leading peers, consulting to management, conducting education, sitting on external boards, involvement with professional association etc.). A working knowledge of the Collective Agreements (HSAA, AUPE and UNA) is required


Additional Required Qualifications:

A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. In addition, the incumbent will possess a record of accomplishment in the following areas: Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, and client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to manage change. Ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within an operating environment. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within an organization and ideally managing within a unionized sector. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholder.


Preferred Qualifications:

Previous management experience in a progressive environment is preferred. Change management experience.
