Alberta Health Services has an exciting opportunity for a Care Manager for the William J. Cadzow - Lac La Biche Healthcare Centre in Lac La Biche. Reporting to the Area Seniors Manager, you will play a key leadership role, responsible and accountable for providing direction, team management, education and organization of operational activities in LTC. This is a unique position working both in a leadership role and providing education to staff. You will often be on the unit interacting with residents, families and staff as part of this role, as well as working with inter-professional teams and patients. You will ensure services are provided in a culturally safe environment and that all who are involved are treated with dignity and respect while fostering networks and partnerships in order to establish standards of practice and achieve goals and priorities within the portfolio. The Care Manager, Seniors Health performs a front line leadership role in Seniors Health and reports directly to the Area Manager, Seniors Health. This position is responsible and accountable for making front line unit-level decisions and having direct leadership responsibility contributing to the achievement of the goals of Seniors Health. Provides day-to-day leadership, supervision and clinical education for the staff in Long Term Care. In collaboration with the Area Manager, participates in the recruitment, orientation and ongoing evaluation of long term care staff. Coaching and mentoring staff through formal and informal performance evaluation and development conversations. Works closely with the interdisciplinary team that includes families and residents to plan, deliver and evaluate care of the long term care residents. As well, the Care Manager is responsible for the educational needs for all the Long Term Care staff including ensuring annual compulsory education and unit level education is provided on an ongoing basis. Responsible for and participates in budgetary and fiscal responsibilities including payroll and Operational Best Practice.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program with preference towards bachelor's degree in nursing. At least 3-5 years in a healthcare provider role and a minimum of one year working in a leadership capacity. Active registration with the college and association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA)

Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to manage change. Ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within an operating environment. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within an organization and ideally managing within a unionized sector. Strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Effective leadership abilities combined with a strong commitment to operating within a team environment and the ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve common goals. Excellent analytical and decision making skills. Demonstrated ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within an organization and ideally managing within a unionized sector. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and manage short term and long term plans and projects and deliver customer focused results. Ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst, and build solid relationships with public agencies, government, committees and other partners.
