Your Opportunity:

Health Shared Services has an exciting opportunity to join the South Clinical Engineering team. The Biomedical Equipment Technologist II position is based at Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge and is responsible for the management of technology including technical support of medical equipment and clinical systems across regional hospital and rural health centres within the Southwest Corridor. The technologist requires a comprehensive knowledge of clinical practices, procedures, and medical equipment, with a solid understanding of anatomy and physiology. Working both independently and collaboratively, the role requires the ability to effectively coordinate with cross functional teams and diverse stakeholders. Responsibilities include functional verification, assurance testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of medical equipment, while ensuring compliance with CSA standards, Health Canada regulations, manufacturer specifications, and accreditation requirements. Additional responsibilities include prioritizing, scheduling, and managing assigned workload; maintaining accurate documentation; actively participating in quality improvement initiatives; and engaging in ongoing professional and personal development. A strong commitment to client service, patient-centred care, and safety is essential.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a two year diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology from an accredited Institute of Technology. Active or eligible for registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) with The Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta (ASET).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Strong background in medical equipment technology and technical service support. Healthcare IT knowledge, including networking, application interfaces, and medical device integration. Knowledge of medical device industry regulations and standards. Working knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to integrate industry best practices into daily work. Experience with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Positive attitude with a proven record of reliable performance and teamwork. Growth mindset with the ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic environment. Demonstrated technical skills and mechanical aptitude. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs Ability to travel within Alberta and out of province or country for training purposes. Class 5 driver's license. Valid passport permitting entry into the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical service experience in supporting medical equipment in a hospital.
