South Zone Medical Affairs is looking for Associate Physicians to assist various departments at Chinook Regional Hospital. Associate Physicians play an important role in the delivery of health care. This is an alternate physician provider role in which the successful candidate will work with a limited medical license issued from the College of Physician and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). The incumbent will work within with the Hospital under the direction of an attending physician and within a multidisciplinary team setting to deliver acute patient care. This is an alternate provider role in which the successful candidate will obtain a limited medical license issued from the College of Physician and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and will work under the direction of a supervising physician within a multidisciplinary team setting to deliver acute patient care. Responsibilities may include admissions, discharge planning, ordering diagnostics, and overall Patient and Family Centered Care.

Required Qualifications:

Applicant must be either a landed immigrant (Permanent Resident) or a Canadian Citizen at the time of application. Applicants must be a graduate of a medical school located outside of Canada and the United States, listed in the Foundation of Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER) International Medical Directory (IMED). Experience in an acute hospital-based care facility within the last 3 years. Preference will be given to applicants who have had active acute care surgical experience within the last 3 years. Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME): Must have completed a recognized orthopedic or general surgery residency program with a successful completion of an existing board exam. Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination Part I (MCCQE1): Applicants must have passed the MCC Qualifying Examination Part 1 prior to application. English Language Proficiency: As a requirement for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA), applicants must have taken the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) in Canada with minimum required scores of 7.0 in each of the components within 24 months prior to registration.
