Minimum bachelor level degree for one of the PLC Allied Health Professions or Nursing Profession required, with appropriate licensure for the respective college. Minimum 5 years working as an Allied Health or Nursing professional in acute care or rehabilitation hospital, ideally in an organization of similar size, complexity and diversity. Recent experience in a leadership role in a healthcare setting. Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills, communication skills, and conflict resolution among staff, leaders, patients, and families. Demonstrated effective communicator (written and verbal) with strong organizational, analytical, and conflict resolution skills. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to engage, inspire and build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated initiative in leadership via courses, conferences, or certificates. Demonstrated experience in program development, project management and/or process improvement. Experience and education with Alberta Improvement Way (AIW) process improvement methodologies, LEAN/Six Sigma methodologies or equivalent is preferred. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within an organization while leading within a unionized sector. Ability to plan, organize, and manage short and long term department goals and project plans while delivering patient/family centered and staff-focused results.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous management experience in Allied Health in an acute care/rehabilitation hospital setting. Leadership experience in acute care e.g., operations or clinical practice. Education/training in emotional intelligence as it relates to leadership. Experience with constructive conversations, performance appraisals and coaching. Experience with relevant software systems e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, RMS, Connect Care.
