Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Qualifications:Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, including the ability to elicit information and gain support. Ability to work harmoniously within the interdisciplinary team. Work independently in a team environment. Proven ability to make sound professional judgements. An excellent understanding of the continuum of care from community, to acute care, to rehabilitation and alternate community options. The position will require direct patient and family conversations related to admission and transfer options and must be able to work under pressure in difficult situations. This position may be put in a situation of conflict between units, programs and families within the hospital and will be required to make a decision that is best for overall patient safety and quality. This position may be asked to approach physicians about anticipated date of discharge, documenting care plans, considering transfer or discharge of patients as well as requesting timely consultations in order to facilitate effective patient flow.
Preferred Qualifications:A minimum of a bachelor degree of Nursing is preferred or a combination of experience and past demonstrated skills will be considered.
