Leduc Community Hospital Emergency Department is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Head Nurse (AHN) to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a supportive, collaborative, and fast-paced rural Emergency Department within Alberta Health Services. The Emergency Department provides 24/7 care to a diverse patient population. The AHN plays a key leadership role in supporting clinical operations, patient flow, and staff development, ensuring safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care. In this role, you will provide clinical leadership, supervision, and frontline support. You will promote excellence in nursing practice through role modelling, mentoring, and supporting clinical decision-making. Working with the Manager, Clinical Nurse Educator, physicians, and interdisciplinary team, you will help foster a culture prioritizing patient experience and staff well-being, aligned with AHS CARES values. Description:
As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 5 years of Emergency Nursing experience, including extensive Charge Nurse experience. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Current Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) certification. Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong critical thinking, clinical assessment, and problem-solving abilities. Demonstrated ability to manage change and support team effectiveness. Demonstrated and continuous commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining clinical competence.
Preferred Qualifications:Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (or willingness to obtain). Completion of Emergency Nurse Provincial Education Program Modules (ENPEPs). Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification an asset. Advanced experience and knowledge with cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and interpretation of ECGs. Experience with Connect Care (EPIC). Previous experience in an Emergency Department setting. Demonstrated teaching, mentoring, and facilitation skills.
