Your Opportunity:

This position is responsible and accountable for providing direction, leadership and organization over the allied health services activities within the program and Area 10 in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. These activities will include the integration of various resources to carry out these activities. The position is also responsible and accountable for making key decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for establishing and contributing to the achievement of the goals of allied health services in Area 10. The Area Manager Allied Health will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders in order to provide leadership to allied health services. The Area Manager Allied Health is also responsible for: collaboration and joint planning with local community stakeholders and partners (internal and external) around local services agreements, sharing expert knowledge of high-impact issues within area of expertise, and participation in regular meetings in support of North Zone Allied Health; for example, North Zone Allied Health Steering Committee; WBRCSD (Wood Buffalo Regional Collaborative Service Delivery) Management; North Zone RCSD Collaboration, and others as necessary. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

The incumbent will possess a record of accomplishment in the following areas: effective communicator with strong organizational skills and client focused orientation and commitment to providing quality services, leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others, demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues, ability to manage human, financial and physical resources within an operating environment, proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals and ideally managing within a unionized sector, strong track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, effective leadership abilities combined with a strong commitment to operating within a team environment and the ability to motivate and inspire others to achieve common goals, excellent analytical and decision-making skills, ability to plan, organize and manage short and long term plans and projects and deliver customer-focused results, and ability to foster a climate of cooperation amongst and build solid relationships with public agencies, government, committees and other partners.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of a Bachelor Degree in related healthcare field required plus appropriate licences and designations. A minimum of 3 to 5 years in a health management role ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. The incumbent must demonstrate a clear pattern of professional and personal development.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in related health care field. 5-10 years in a health management role.
