Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Active or eligible for registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Duties include the operation and trouble-shooting of all anesthesia and physiological monitoring equipment; operation and trouble-shooting of anesthesia gas machines; assist or perform insertion of invasive monitoring, central lines, intravenous and arterial lines; assist or perform all aspects of airway management; operation of blood salvage and rapid infusion equipment; transport equipment and supplies to support the Out-of-OR anesthesia locations; maintenance of equipment to perform blood sampling for blood gas and electrolyte analysis; support and assist with the regional anesthesia block team. Registered Respiratory Therapist and eligible member of The College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (CARTA). Proven organizational, interpersonal and communication skills required. Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision. Ability to work under stressful situations. Ability to recognize and maintain confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education or work experience in Anesthesia Assistance is preferred. Previous pediatric and intensive care experience is an asset. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Current CPR required, ACLS and PALS is preferred.
