Your Opportunity:

The Advisor position for Talent Development (TD) reports to the Manager of the South Sector and is located in Medicine Hat or Lethbridge. The Advisor is responsible for delivering, facilitating, coordinating and supporting TD standardized courses and learning initiatives to leader and front line employees. Delivery will include face to face facilitation, virtual facilitations and module based learning. As a member of the TD team, s/he may be called upon to support the development, implementation, testing and evaluation of organization wide learning opportunities.


The successful applicant will demonstrate: workshop delivery/facilitation. Bring to life the course curriculum using the a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as group discussions, role playing, team exercises, videos, facilitate virtual and face to face learning or module learning to: increase learner awareness and knowledge in learning aligned with AHS vision, mission and values. Foster an attitude of interest and engagement. Enhance employee development and personal growth. Establish healthy working relationships. Promote improved teamwork. Support of talent development & opportunities that align with organizational, zone and team priorities and initiatives. Support Standardized Learning. Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners. Maintenance of applicable records and documents. Gather informal and formal feedback to ensure that learner needs are being met. Ensure that required course materials and supplies are available and up to date for distribution to learners. Test and maintain training equipment to ensure optimal functionality. Identify and implement effective communication methods to promote learning opportunities to potential learners. Coordinate resources such as equipment, room booking, course materials and documentation and classroom layout to foster an ideal learning environment. Collaboration with the larger TD team to ensure best service alignment to clients. As a member of the larger team, she/he may also act as a liaison between zone programs/services and TD and Organizational Effectiveness. This position will be required to develop and maintain strong positive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders presenting and promoting TD and Organizational Effectiveness. Consistency in the application of any provincial TD processes is critical.

Required Qualifications:

Post-secondary degree or diploma in a field related to adult learning.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated virtual facilitation skills and competence with Adobe Connect and Zoom platforms. Understand the needs and characteristics of adult learners and adult learning principles. Be skilled at interpersonal communications, all method of facilitation, leading group discussions and resolving group conflicts. Know how to use instructional aides and equipment (flipcharts, projectors, video players, presentation hardware and software). Have strong computer and organizational skills for preparing course materials and delivery of courses. Able to work independently, be innovative and self-confident.

Preferred Qualifications:

A minimum 2 years’ experience in learning and development in a healthcare organization in preferred. Relevant certifications: CHRP, CSTD, CACE, CCM, PROSCI or other related field to maintain currency and proficiency. Previous experience in learning and development and/or human resources, ideally in an organization or significant size, complexity and diversity is preferred. Experience in a health care and/or unionized environment considered an asset.
