This is an exciting and innovative opportunity for the right person to become a member of the Chief Medical Information Office (CMIO) team. If you are an accomplished, influential professional who works passionately to make a difference in advancing healthcare through information technology and clinical informatics, the Technical Writer may be the role for you. The Advisor - Digital Content is a professional role reporting to the Director, Medical Informatics and Training within the Chief Medical Information Office portfolio.


The Advisor - Digital Content possesses a variety of skills to assist in planning, execution, implementation, optimization and sustainability phases of program work. The Technical Writer maintains a high-functioning level of technical writing / analytical expertise while also drafting and editing written communications. This position works in collaboration with other program team members to create documentation and communication that is succinct, intuitive for varying sponsors and stakeholders who are internal and external to AHS. Working directly with leadership, the Technical Writer will be responsible for transforming complex reports into accessible communications products. Producing content for a number of media platforms including websites, blogs and newsfeeds. Attending key stakeholder consultations and creating summary key messages. Reviewing, editing, and providing content for a number of Internet platforms. Creating and working with diverse digital media, including images, videos, podcasts and collateral. Liaising with AHS corporate communications and other communications teams.

Required Qualifications:

Diploma or Degree in Communications, Technical Writing, Writing / Editing or 1-2 years equivalent working experience.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge of Alberta Health Care system an asset, expert skills in Microsoft Suite. Ability to learn new programs quickly such as Microsoft Visio, SharePoint and Publisher. Familiarity with Business Analysis tools including the following: Swim lane diagrams; Fishbone diagrams; Storyboard development; SWOT analysis.
