Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Supervisor of Health Information Management (HIM) the Administrative Support V - HIM Team Lead is responsible for providing in scope leadership to the Administrative Support staff (ASIII and ASII) ensuring workload turnaround times are met in Registration, Switchboard and Patient Information and Health Information/Records Management (HI/RM). This position is responsible for ensuring data integrity guidelines and procedures are followed and responding to queries related to any department functions. The HIM Team Lead provides support to the North Zone HIM Supervisor and acts as a single point of contact for HIM when the Supervisor is not on site or absent and is responsible for making informed independent decisions. This position is expected to directly mentor staff to inspire creativity and teamwork with a strong customer service focus and problem-solving ability. Under the direction of the HIM Supervisor, responsibilities include recruitment support, orientation and training of staff, staff payroll and assisting with day-to-day workload operations in a rural environment. This position is required to schedule staff with varying skills and classifications to minimize overtime and augmenting, including scheduling shifts for vacation and sick coverage as required. This position also plays a key leadership role in the transformation and execution of technology enabled business processes or e-HIM®, transitioning from site and zone-based practices to standardized provincial chart correction workflows within Connect Care and other 3rd party systems across AHS. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. certificate in office or business administration).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Diploma or equivalency in Business Administration Management and/or other equivalency. Skills and Experience: Minimum Required: 3 years’ experience in Health Information Management with at least 2 year’s experience in Admitting/Registration. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered. Strong verbal and written English communication skills. Experience in customer service and leadership. Typing speed of 45 wpm (testing will be performed). Successful completion of Medical Terminology course (testing will be performed). Proven critical thinking and ability to demonstrate flexibility within an environment of constant interruptions and changing work demands. Attention to detail to ensure that health information is accurately recorded and entered into the patient care systems. An excellent attendance record, reliability, and personal suitability must be demonstrated through employment references. Medical Terminology and Admin tests will be conducted. In accordance with Health Information Act (HIA), Freedom of Information and Privacy (FOIP) and other privacy legislation in effect the incumbent shall comply at all times with APL / AHS’s Information Privacy and Information Security policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

One (1) year experience in staff scheduling and payroll entry in ePeople or use of WFM. One (1) year experience using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). One (1) year experience in Vital Statistics. One (1) year experience in training staff/leading teams.
