Administrative Support IV
Your Opportunity:
Under the direction of the Preadmission clinic Manager and Unit Manager, the Administrative Support IV (AS IV) role is responsible for the provision of support to nursing, medical personnel, physicians, and patients of the Preadmission Clinic. The AS IV will participate in quality improvement throughout the unit as well as offer clerical support to medical and nursing research activities while demonstrating professional accountability in all aspects of patient and family centered care. The AS IV must be able to demonstrate competence in delivering safe, effective and efficient communication with patients and families. The AS IV is responsible and accountable for their practice in accordance with the standards defined by Alberta Health Services and must maintain all standards of practice and complete care within his/her scope of practice. Direct AS IV duties can include booking of appointments via Connect Care, direct patient and family contact at the Clinic reception desk, preparation of multiple and complex requisitions for patient diagnostic testing as per physician or nursing direction and assisting with data collection for quality improvement as directed. The AS IV role works independently as well as in consultation with RN/LPN colleagues and other services to meet the needs of complex patients.

Additional Required Qualifications:Unit Clerk Certificate program. Minimum typing requirement of 40 word/min. Medical Terminology and Anatomy course completion. 5 years recent work experience in an AHS outpatient clinic required. Ability to work well as part of a large multi-service team. Effective interpersonal and communication skills in a professional and mature manner required. Ability to process information quickly and efficiently. Proficiency in computer skills/ MS Office (e.g., Excel) required. Expertise using Windows environment and use of AHS email required. Attention to detail and patient booking accuracy required. Ability to sit and/or stand while working for extended periods of time. Knowledge and use of Connect Care and Netcare required.
Preferred Qualifications:Recent experience in Preadmission Clinic (within the last year) desired.
