Your Opportunity:

Working under the general supervision of the Clerical Supervisor and Managers, the Admin Support IV (Procedure Booking Clerk’s) primary responsibility is to facilitate organized and efficient service to patients accessing outpatient Gastroenterology & Hepatology Services by acting as a liaison between Patients, Physicians, Registered Nurses and other Outpatient departments. This involves the ongoing coordination of clinic appointments and tests and communicating with patients regarding clinic appointments and procedural preparation. The Admin Support IV collaborates with patients and Physicians and communicates with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and other inpatient/outpatient departments. Duties include booking and confirming clinic appointments, scheduling procedures on the Endoscopy Unit, processing Physician orders, scheduling diagnostic tests, retrieving various results and reports, providing appropriate verbal and written patient education and performing other duties as required. Additional opportunities to cross train for other Admin Support IV roles including Clinic MOA, and Endoscopy Unit Clerk may also be available within role. Hours of work are currently Monday to Friday between 0800-1700 and may change to meet operational requirements.

Required Qualifications:

Some post-secondary education.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. course(s) in business administration, medical office assistant), or other related fields. Completion of a recognized Medical Office Assistant course or equivalent work experience required. Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required. One-two years in a medical clerical position required. Fluency in English language skills in reading, writing and oral communication required. Ability to work with minimal supervision, prioritize, problem solve and handle frequent interruptions required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in Ambulatory/ Outpatient experience preferred. Experience with Netcare, Connect Care strongly preferred.
