Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, Central Access, this position is responsible for: Following strict timelines and workflows receives and registers all Notices of Live or Still Birth (NOB’s) from all Hospital sites for the Edmonton Zone. Communicates with HBPP program managers and consultants real-time to meet service delivery standards for HBPP to ensure parents of newborn infants receive a telephone assessment by a Public Health Nurse within 24-48 hours of discharge. Investigates missing, incomplete, or delayed NOBs, often following up directly with acute care facilities, facility/site specific Health Records Departments (medical records), and related Labour and Delivery units. Receives and investigates infant specific “Alerts” for Alberta Health Newborn Metabolic Screening (NMS) program in the Edmonton Zone. Initiates actions surrounding collection and processing of samples for NMS based on status or type of patient alert, which may involve laboratory samples being recollected or changes being made to public records. Utilizes Provincial NMS management tool to document and follow-up on all patient alerts handled. Verifies electronic demographic information to conduct and complete daily work on behalf of Alberta Health in Alberta Netcare, Client Registry, and others, resulting from investigations involving missing forms, data or other issues. Verifies ULI/PHC numbers on behalf of Alberta Health (AH) and notifies them when data is missing on public records in Alberta Netcare or Client Registry. Makes recommendations to AH for data merges for public records duplication on behalf of Alberta Health, when detected, resulting from investigations into missing records, data, or NMS alerts. Processes all Immunization records requests received at Health Link, searching archived media and databases, generating letters, and preparing records for mail-out.

Required Qualifications:

Some post-secondary education.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 (diploma) required. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office is required; with certification being an asset. The successful candidate must have a minimum typing speed 40 WPM. Experience equivalents will be considered. Advanced data entry skills required. Ability to recognize potential errors and provide solutions; troubleshooting skills required. All candidates undergo standardized testing to determine suitability.

Preferred Qualifications:

Completion of post-secondary education (i.e. course(s) in business administration, Office Administration certificate, Medical Office Assistant) or other related fields or post-secondary education. Medical terminology course is considered an asset. Possess strong interpersonal, decision-making and communication skills. Contact centre experience is an asset. Customer service, particularly telephone-based experience. Dedicated to quality improvement. Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting.
