If you are a Medical Office Assistant with advanced administrative skills and knowledge with the ability to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives throughout surgical departments and programs this may be the opportunity for you! Reporting to the Clinic Manger, the successful candidate will be a key member of a dedicated team responsible for providing clinical and clerical support to a team of physicians caring for patients, families throughout Northern Alberta. As the initial point of contact, you will be expected to communicate in an effective and professional manner while always maintaining confidentiality. You will be responsible to manage physician scheduling that includes operative time, ambulatory clinic appointments, call schedules, educational rounds, and committee meetings. You will liaise with a range of health–related personnel to schedule consultations, procedures, investigative tests, follow up appointments and re-bookings., patient reception and registration. Clerical duties will also include the management and maintenance of office equipment and supplies. Clinical support may include basic functions deemed appropriate to be performed by a person in an unregulated healthcare position, such as, but not limited to, obtaining, and recording of vital signs, transferring, or transporting patients and equipment.

Some post-secondary education.
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of post-secondary education (e.g., course(s) in business administration, medical office assistant), or other related fields. Completion of medical terminology course. Minimum of three years recent experience providing complex clinical and administrative support to a physician in a health care-based environment. Self-directed with a demonstrated time management skill, ability to multi-task, problem solve and work independently. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication and customer service skills. Superior proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Calendar & Email). Proficiency with Netcare, DI, surgical bookings, referral/waitlist management and scheduling, insurance claims, billing, and billing codes. Accurate keyboarding skills of min 55 words per minute. Incumbent must be able to walk, sit and stand for extended periods of time on a frequent basis. Must have the ability to push and pull weights of 50 kg on an occasional basis. Must have the ability to lift equipment and/or deliveries greater than 25 kg for transport to areas within the clinic or to the appropriate team members
Preferred Qualifications:Preference given to those with experience in an ambulatory care setting, urology and/or surgery, and Connect Care. Working knowledge of Alberta Health Services systems and processes as well as office policies and procedures. Heart and Stroke Foundation CPR – BLS-HCP.
