Required Qualifications:

Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. course(s) in office of business administration, medical office assistant).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Medical Terminology course with proven clinical application and competencies. 2 years’ experience providing administrative support in a busy multidisciplinary outpatient clinic setting within the last 5 years. Outpatient clinic experience with complex patient bookings, completing requisitions, booking and tracking diagnostic tests, referral and wait list management (5000 + referrals per year), chart management, understanding of clinic work flow/processes, telephone etiquette and communication skills. Experience using MS Office including Word, Excel and Access. Experience working with the public with demonstrated strong customer service skills. A strong emotional quotient necessary to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team. Works with key professional integrity principles relating to ethical and patient and family centred care. Able to work confidently and effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience and knowledge of pediatric and adult outpatient services. Demonstrated knowledge of patient and family centred care. Experience using the following programs: Clinibase, scheduler, Netcare, SHIRE Access genetic database management system. Experience with change management and process improvements. Passionate about being a clinical steward to quality care. Knowledge of the health system functions and culture.
