Your Opportunity:

Under the supervision of the Manager, Unit manager, and Nurse Clinician the Administrative Support III for General Internal Medicine & Thrombosis Triage performs clerical duties required to support specialty patient care for assigned specialists in the outpatient setting. Responsibilities and duties include general reception and clerical duties, referral management, booking new and follow up appointments for patients, liaising with clinic staff regarding patient appointments and changes, data entry, review of physician’s orders, requesting, tracking and obtaining patient information from physicians' offices, laboratories, radiology and other related health care disciplines, management of clinic generic email, printing, faxing and scanning documents. Excellent communication skills, multitasking, and meticulous attention to detail are required for this position. Duties may also include in-clinic support for tasks such as patient manual handling, handling of clinic equipment and supplies, and assistance to the multidisciplinary team in the coordination of patient care and follow-up.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

MOA or Unit Clerk course. At least 2 years (within the last 5 years) of clerical experience in a multi-provider patient care area. This could be hospital and/or clinic experience in a role that involves referral management, coordination of clinic visits, reviewing of physician’s orders, contacting patients, and scheduling of procedures and tests Experience and competency at least at the intermediate level for Connect Care, Netcare and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with fax equipment, photocopier, multi-line telephones Accurate and proficient keyboard skills mandatory, 50 words per minute minimum. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Detail-oriented and ability to work with minimal supervision. Excellent knowledge of the English language, both spoken and written. Ability to deal effectively with people in confrontational circumstances. Ability to function well in a team setting. Ability to work in a noisy, high volume, fast-paced environment with numerous interruptions. Ability to communicate effectively with clients of varying ages, socioeconomic statuses and ethnic backgrounds and varying levels of English language fluency. Clear and concise telephone and communication skills with pleasant manner. Proven positive attitude and skill for customer service. Manual dexterity and physically able to carry a weight of at least 30 lbs. Demonstrated excellent time management, organizational skills and ability to prioritize work.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of one year experience in an outpatient clerical position. Experience building Connect Care templates. Central triage experience.
