Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Supervisor of Registration and Patient Information (RSPI), the Administrative Support III is responsible for interviewing patients and/or their family members in person for the purpose of completing registration prior to service delivery. As an Administrative Support III you provide a critical function in obtaining accurate patient information, accurately entering the information in the patient care systems while completing registrations and admissions efficiently. As the initial point of contact for persons seeking services through the Patient Registration/Admitting areas, this position is expected to communicate effectively to provide exceptional customer service to the patients, clients and the general public. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: Acts as lead on evenings, weekends and night shifts for other clerks in the department, as needed. Performs the Vital Stats role and interact with nursing units, Pathology, social workers, funeral homes and families in accepting and releasing bodies. Collects hospital fees for uninsured and out-of-country services. Answer telephones, greet the public and direct individuals accordingly. Assists with training and provides support for new clerks, helping them to understand the various procedures and processes within the department. This position primarily consists of sedentary work and you may be required to lift up to 25 lbs.


As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Medical Terminology, Medical Office Assistant, Unit Clerk Specialty and/or Post-secondary education applicable to the position (tested pre-interview). Minimum typing speed of 40 wpm (tested pre-interview).

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum one (1) year experience within the last two (2) years in the Admitting/Registration Department. Experience in the following multi-patient care computer systems : Clinibase, eClinibase Scheduler, Netcare, Person Directory, EMPI. Lead clerk experience in Admitting/Registration. Critical thinking and ability to demonstrate flexibility within an environment of constant interruptions and changing work demand. Verbal and written English communication skills.
