Your Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, the Addiction Counsellor IV works in a supervisory role providing clinical consultation, debriefing, and innovative programming in a community outpatient setting. Using knowledge of a recovery oriented systems of care this position displays strong skills in therapeutic screening, assessment and counselling; psychoeducational and therapeutic group sessions; and prevention and recovery focused interventions. Session observation and skill development should be used to promote a culture of open practice within the team. This position oversees group programming which includes ongoing group evaluation to ensure groups align with best practices. The Addiction Counsellor IV supports the growth and development of addictions staff, as well as mental health clinicians, to deliver safe and effective addiction practice that is concurrent capable. This position may provide direct client care or deliver prevention programming. Knowledge of harm reduction strategies as well as prevention and health promotion is an asset. This position would be a part of the Leadership Team that is supported by the Director/Manager. As such, a demonstrated record of excellent interpersonal skills, collaborative practice, and concurrent service delivery will prepare you for this role. Description:

As an Addiction Counsellor IV, you will provide clinical supervision to the Addiction Services team, coordinate the day-to-day operations as well as delivery of addiction services and programs. Responsibilities include the provision of addiction practice expertise, operational supervision of the Addiction Services team, development and coordination of the treatment and/or prevention program and may provide direct client care or deliver prevention programming. The Addiction Counsellor IV supports the growth and development of addictions staff to deliver safe and effective addiction practice that is concurrent capable. This includes therapeutic screening, assessment and counselling; psychoeducational and therapeutic group sessions; and prevention interventions. The Addiction Counsellor IV designs, implements and evaluates addiction programs and services consistent with AHS policies and practices.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a health related field.

Additional Required Qualifications:

The successful applicant will have a minimum 5 years’ experience providing Addiction Counselling including assessment, treatment, and facilitation of groups; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of motivational interviewing, trauma informed care, and harm reduction is required. Previous supervisor experience is an asset. Individuals eligible for registration under the Health Professions Act must maintain active registration. Individuals may require authorization/permission under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions and/or restricted activities. There is a requirement to travel to Rural West Clinics for client services and peer consultations. Must be competent in identifying clients at risk and completing a suicide risk assessment. When working alone with clients, the ACIV must be willing and able to complete first aid training.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced computer literacy. Above average keyboarding skills and proficient with computer programs – Outlook MS Office, Microsoft Teams, Connect Care.
