Completion of a bachelor's degree in Addictions or a combination of a bachelor's degree in a related field with course work in addictions. A related degree combined with a diploma related to addictions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, may be considered. Individuals eligible for registration under the Health Professions Act must maintain active registration. Individuals may require authorization under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions.
Additional Qualifications:Degree or diploma in addiction studies. Preference for educational background in Addiction studies with professional registration. Social Worker registered through the ACSW or a degree and/or diploma program in Social Sciences or Nursing with addiction education and experience. Social Workers registered through ACSW or a degree and/or diploma program in Social Sciences or Nursing with two to five years related work and/or volunteer experience and appropriate registration with a regulatory college (Alberta College of Social Workers, College of Alberta Psychologist, Registered Nurse, and Registered Psychiatric Nurse). - Registered Social Workers must be authorized to perform psychosocial interventions by ACSW. Minimum of two years related work and/or volunteer experience. Note: This position requires a vehicle for business use. Possession of a valid driver’s license (non-GDL) and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel is required.
Preferred Qualifications:Ability to provide psychosocial intervention preferred. Preference given to applicants with experience in addiction counseling. A combination of experience and education will be considered.
