Required Qualifications:

Must meet one of the Alberta Health Services (AHS) Health Care Aide (HCA) competency requirements: Certified - certified as a Health Care Aide through a Government of Alberta licensed post-secondary institution using the Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum. Evidence required upon hire; or Substantially Equivalent - an educational background deemed equivalent as compared to the approved Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum. Evidence required upon hire; or Deemed Competent - assessed as competent by an Alberta regulated nurse, using the Provincial Competency Assessment Profile Tool. Evidence required upon hire; or candidate would be required to register for a HCA course from a Government of Alberta licensed post-secondary institution using the Provincial Health Care Aide Curriculum within 155 hours or 6 weeks (whichever comes first), and successfully complete the course within 12 month timeline from date of hire.

Additional Qualifications:

In addition, the incumbent will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: • Actively integrates Patient and Family Centered Care principles into practice • Excellent communication skills in order to work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary team and accept direction as required • Demonstrates critical thinking, conflict resolution and problem solving skills • Excellent time management and prioritization skills • Compliance with the AHS Hand Hygiene policies • Demonstrates behaviours consistent with the values of AHS - compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and safety

Preferred Qualifications:

• Minimum 1 year of Health Care Aide experience in the past 5 years preferred
