In addition to a competitive rate of pay, Alberta Health Services currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Well-developed interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing. Ability to prioritize work and effectively cope with frequent interruptions. Ability to remain focused in stressful acute patient situations. Proficient in operating multi-line telephone system.

Preferred Qualifications:

1-3 years’ experience in a Unit Clerk position preferably in an acute care or emergency area. Experience with Connect Care.
