Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience as a Unit Clerk in an acute care setting within last 2 years. Consideration will be given to new grads who have completed a Unit Clerk practicum in a medical or surgical unit. Medical Terminology. Proficiency using the following MS Office programs – Outlook, Word, and Excel. Excellent knowledge of the English language both written and oral. Experience working with the public with demonstrated strong customer service skills. Understanding of CoAct and collaborative care in the acute care setting.
Preferred Qualifications:One year experience as a Unit Clerk in an acute surgical unit within the last 2 years. Experience with booking and scheduling patient appointments, chart management including documenting orders, understanding of unit work flow/processes, telephone etiquette and skills. Experience using the following programs: SCM, Clinibase, Teletracking, iProcurement, e-Facilities, OR Manager.
