Successful applicant will: Competently utilize nursing process in providing direct patient care to high risk infants in a Level 2 NICU. Have an interest in developing strong neonatal assessment skills with appropriate intervention skill set. Involve and advocate for the family in all matters of care. Work in a family centered care environment. Effectively make decisions and able to adapt to changing situations. Have strong skills in organization and priority setting. Have strong skills in building commitment and trust with clients and co-workers. Work collaboratively with the inter-disciplinary team.

Description:

An Undergraduate Nursing Employee (UNE) position provides an opportunity for a UNE to develop further competency in the range and complexity of Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) practice. The nursing activities performed and level of supervision required is determined by legislation, standards of supervision outlined by professional associations, AHS and competency of the UNE. You will be guided by your education, experience and demonstrated skill level to play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Current enrolment in an approved Alberta nursing education program leading to initial entry to practice as a registered nurse or registered psychiatric nurse. Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (CPR) certificate. Successful completion of 3rd year of an RN nursing education program and a minimum of 600 hours of clinical practice in an approved RN education program; or currently in the final year of an after-degree RN nursing education program and a minimum of 600 hours of clinical practice in an approved RN education program; or successful completion of 2nd year of an RPN nursing education program and a minimum of 600 hours of clinical practice in an approved RPN education program.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Basic computer skills. Good communication skills and the ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills as required. Demonstrated ongoing responsibility for maintaining own continuing competence through professional development activities. Ability to work shift work. Ability to meet the physical demands of the job.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current NRP certification.
