Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12.

Additional Required Qualifications:

A degree or diploma with a focus on health sciences or biological sciences from a recognized program. A minimum of 2 years of recent aseptic technique experience, within the last 6 years. You must be available to be on call routinely, and be able to work long shifts (up to 16 hours) on short notice, including weekends, evenings and nights. You must be willing to work with human tissues and cells. Walking, bending, lifting and long periods of standing is required. Able to proficiently communicate both in written and verbal form is required. Able to prioritize work and function both independently and in a team environment. Able to critically think in stressful situations and work in a stressful environment. Able to demonstrate outstanding clinical, customer service and collaboration skills. Able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and strong interpersonal skills. Able to demonstrate thorough attention to detail. Able to demonstrate strong documentation skills. Able to strictly adhere to multiple stringent standards, regulations and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

Some knowledge of Health Canada Regulations/CSA Standards. Strong knowledge of islet biology and experience in working with islets. Previous islet isolation experience would be an asset.
