Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent (within the last 2 years) experience with pediatric Speech and Language clients. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with members of the multidisciplinary team including families and school partners. Self-direction and independent decision making, sound clinical judgment and critical thinking skills. Time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to function effectively within a dynamic, fast paced, multidisciplinary environment. Actively integrate patient and family centered care principles in all areas of practice including clinical decision making and effective communication. Demonstrate problem solving, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills. Basic knowledge of computers and software applications (i.e. Microsoft Office). Demonstrate commitment to and participation in activities which promote professional and personal growth and development. Demonstrate behaviours consistent with the values of AHS: compassion, accountability, respect, excellence and safety. Identify and engage in program development initiatives. Practice according to clinical practice standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years (1.0 FTE) experience within the last 4 years working in a school or community setting. Recent experience (within the last 2 years) working in a Response to Intervention model.
