Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold these qualifications: Therapeutic Recreation Assistant or equivalent diploma/certification from a recognized post-secondary institution or equivalent experience required. Valid BCLS-HCP certificate required. Proven organizational and time management skills. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Ability to accept verbal and written instructions. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Professional and courteous manner. Computer experience in Meditech, Microsoft Word and Excel. Physically capable of pushing wheelchairs for an extended period of time and performing client transfers.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferably 3 years’ experience working in a Therapeutic Recreation position with seniors and/or individuals with challenges. Preferably 1 year experience in a community Therapeutic Recreation program under the direction of a Recreation Therapist. Alberta Leadership and Fitness Certification with a specialty in Fitness for the Older Adult will be an advantage due to the individual and group exercises provided in our 12 week falls prevention program.
