Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Alberta Heart and Stroke: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider. Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a Therapy Assistant. Experience, in the past two years working, with adult neurological populations. Experience with splinting and sewing. Experience leading groups. Basic computer skills. Effective self-management skills and demonstrated initiative. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize daily work schedules in order to manage client caseload and service delivery responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a patient-centered, interdisciplinary team of health care professionals. Skilled in problem solving, critical thinking, conflict resolution, and brings a creative, patient and sensitive approach to daily work.
Preferred Qualifications:LSVT LOUD certification LSVT BIG certification. Experience in an outpatient setting within the last 5 years. Experience working in inpatient Orthopedic and General Medicine areas. Experience providing interventions assigned by multiple Allied Health disciplines (Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology and Audiology). Proficiency with Microsoft and Windows software, and electronic charting. ThAAA membership / certification preferred.
