Required Qualifications:

Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge and understanding of the nature of physical and occupational therapy disciplines, the rehabilitation process and how it relates to client functioning in the community setting. Current CPR certification of at least Basic Rescuer Level is required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend instructions in English. Ability to prioritize and organize workload. Ability to work effectively in a team setting. Basic knowledge of various health conditions (mental health, dementia, brain injury, physical disabilities etc.). Experience in the rehabilitation of adults and seniors with various health needs, disabilities and mental health needs is required. Knowledge and understanding of common mental health diagnoses. Understanding of short term, functional and goal directed rehabilitation in a community setting. Well-developed problem solving skills to facilitate implementation of treatment activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate membership with national association is preferred.
