Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:Six months experience working on an in-patient adult acute care or tertiary rehabilitation unit in a hospital setting within the past 2 years. Experience working as a therapy assistant with a pediatric population within the past year. Experience working with a geriatric population including those with a diagnosis of advanced dementia within the past two years. Experience working as a therapy assistant in recreation therapy in the past two years. Current Heart & Stroke Foundation CPR Certification is required (Level: Health Provider). Demonstrated knowledge of Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Recreation Therapy and Speech Language Pathology. Effective self-management skills and demonstrated initiative. Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a patient-centered, interdisciplinary team of health care professionals. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Basic computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications:Therapy Assistant Association of Alberta membership/certification. 2 years or more experience working on an in-patient adult acute or tertiary care unit within the past 5 years. 5 or more years of experience working as a therapy assistant in hospital or community settings.
