Your Opportunity:

Alberta Health Services is seeking clinical and/or business professionals interested in directly contributing to the strategic direction of Continuing Care in Alberta for the role of Team Lead, Continuing Care Audit. This is a new key leadership position in the newly forming Provincial Continuing Care Audit Team. As a Team Lead, Continuing Care Audit, you will lead a team of up to six clinical professionals as they independently conduct audits within the North Sector responsible for the quality and compliance with Alberta Health Continuing Care Health Service Standards (CCHSS) at continuing care sites. The sites include Long term Care, Supportive Living, Homecare and Adult Day support programs. Using your exceptional communication and leadership skills, you will support your team as they identify and explore complex, and often sensitive issues, while engaging multiple stakeholders in a helpful and appropriate manner. You will use your facilitation and negotiation skills to influence the quality and safety of continuing care delivered to patients through the sharing of your team’s audit results and recommendations for improvement. You will collaborate with partners, both internal and external to AHS, including contracted service providers, and at all levels of management. As a Team Lead, Continuing Care Audit, you will have a profound understanding of continuing care challenges and risks in order to contribute to the Team’s Audit Strategy and Annual Risk-based Audit Plan. You will lead your team to meet their performance goals by identifying barriers and challenges, and helping your team to overcome them. You will serve as an innovator and change agent in the pursuit of excellence in client care and client outcomes. Your commitment to continually improve health and safety through the promotion of quality improvement and change management is key for this role.


Reporting to the Program Director, Continuing Care Audit, you will: Manage your team’s portfolio of audits according to the audit schedule. Provide Team oversight including: reviewing and ensuring the quality of your team’s audit work. Recruit, coach, performance management and professional development for your team members. Participate in presentations to Senior Management, the Executive Leadership Team and the Board. Lead committees and work groups related to continuing care audits, quality improvement and patient safety. Significant travel may be required within the assigned North sector. Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel is required for this position. This position is in the P4-2 salary range with the opportunity to fall within the high performance range. All Non-Union Exempt positions are being reviewed for possible inclusion in the AUPE General Support Services bargaining unit. If this position is impacted, the incumbent will be notified accordingly.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or in business. Five years’ experience in senior’s health/continuing care sector. Three years’ experience in a management role. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the applicable professional body. Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience in Strategic planning, project management, change management, and process improvement. Leadership skills, including ability and comfort with decision-making responsibilities. Ability to create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Ability to establish, foster and maintain effective working partnerships Strong organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook. Management experience in a large and complex environment. Clear pattern of professional and personal development.

Preferred Qualifications:

Related experience may be considered. Case Management education. Experience with RAI – HC and RAI 2.0 Experience interpreting client care records or hospital documentation. Experience interpreting Continuing Care Health Service Standards (CCHSS). Compliance audit, internal or external audit, or other monitoring activities. Knowledge of Alberta Improvement Way (AIW) processes.
