Support Services Worker
Your Opportunity:
Under general supervision, the Support Services Worker (SSW) is responsible for thorough cleaning of staff, patient, resident, public, clinical, office areas in AHS facilities. Offer a high level of cleaning, disinfecting skills ensuring AHS facilities are safe, clean as determined by Provincial Standards, Guidelines, Protocols. Require respectfulness, good customer service skills, while cleaning for departments, staff, patients, residents, public, coworkers. Compassionate, offers a smile, polite conversation to all while working. Can take direction, swift action. Staying busy with SSW tasks during shift. Works independently but assists ES team as needed, fostering a safe, inclusive workplace. Follows daily written routine, flexible to reprioritize quickly when challenging situations arise, reorganizing workloads to complete work. Capable of working at a quick consistent pace while still providing excellence in cleaning services. Keeps all AHS operations confidential. Accountable for: High/light dusting, thorough cleaning of equipment, furniture, walls, vents, windows inside/out, ledges/edges, ceilings, doors/door handles/frames, bed frames/mattress, dispensers, counters, waste /sharps containers, sinks, showers, tubs, toilets, etc. throughout AHS facilities. Collection, transportation of general, bio medical, recycling waste. Interior pest control. Performs floor maintenance duties of dry, wet mopping, floor scrubbing, stripping, waxing, shampooing with the use of manual & power cleaning equipment. Ensures public, patient care, offices, staff areas have supplies. Transportation, arrange heavy furniture, equipment using dollies, carts, manually required. Complying with (OH&S), (WHMIS), work safety, IPC regulations, and ACE.
Description:
As a Support Service Worker, you will be responsible to provide a variety of cleaning and housekeeping duties. You will be responsible to clean both patient and other facility rooms, operate, clean and store housekeeping equipment, dispose of wastes, and perform a variety of other duties to maintain a clean facility. You will also be responsible for the preparation, assembly and service of safe, high quality meals and menu items.

Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Physically capable to walk and/or stand for the duration of your shift, and perform repetitive physical movements.
Additional Required Qualifications:General knowledge of cleaning techniques and methods required. Good customer service and interpersonal skills required. Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written format. A range of lifting between floor to above shoulders, capable of lifting 25-50 pounds on a regular basis Bending at knees, bending forward, pushing, pulling, reaching, squatting, kneeling, standing and walking. Arm, wrist, elbow and shoulder work. Ability to climbing ladders, use manual cleaning equipment such as both wet and dry mops, dusters, cleaning cloths, toilet brushes, squeegees, scrappers, use power cleaning equipment such as buffers, striping machines, auto scrubbers, burnisher’s, vacuums and carpet cleaners.
Preferred Qualifications:Successful completion of a basic housekeeping program is an asset.
