Completion of post-secondary diploma in Accounting or related field (e.g. Economics, Statistics).
Additional Required Qualifications:Knowledge of accounting principles and financial statement preparation for large and complex clients in a public sector setting. Experience in managing a single entity financial statement audit including the preparation of the required audited financial statements. Knowledge of tax return preparation including charity returns and T2s. Proven ability to work with stakeholders to prepare effective variance analysis for the regular financial reporting cycle. Ability to work within tight reporting deadlines. Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications specifically Excel and Word. Ability to function within a collaborative team environment. Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills. Ability to work independently with guidance in only the most complex situations.
Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrated strong, current understanding of the PSAS and Other accounting sectors GAAP knowledge is preferred. Knowledge/experience with GST considered an asset. 3-5 years of accounting/financial reporting experience with preference given to experience within a large, complex public sector entity is preferred. Chartered Accounting designation (CPA), Accounting and auditing experience is preferred. Experience with CPA student mentorship is preferred.
