As our Community Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist, you will be a part of an interdisciplinary team providing services to preschool clients in our pediatric clinic. You will also have the opportunity to be part of community school service delivery and be a strong collaborative partner with the Peace Collaborative Services, who has a large complement of Allied Health Services that practice with a consultative service delivery model. The Speech Language pathologist participates in program evaluation and outcomes, continuing education, peer evaluation, student supervision and research. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Description:

As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide clinical professional practice both independently and as a part of a collaborative team, which may include external partners. You will be responsible for providing prevention, health promotion, identification, assessment, intervention, and case management. You will participate in planning, coordination and delivery of rehabilitation services in collaboration with patients/clients, families, healthcare professionals and other partners. Your leadership and interpersonal skills will aide you in supervising students and providing clinical guidance to other staff as appropriate. You will use your clinical expertise to inform ongoing quality improvement, service integration, and program development.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of master's degree in Speech Language Pathology. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current BCLS-HCP certification is required. Effective assessment, treatment and education skills. Ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team. This position requires a vehicle for business use. Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Educate others as to philosophy and objectives of Speech Language Pathology. Plan, organize and implement specific treatment programs. Able to work closely and collaboratively with the team, including Speech-Language Assistants. Demonstrate initiative and accept responsibility. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Utilize a wide variety of computerized operating systems. Evidence of personal motivation to perform workload with a minimum of supervision.
