Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience working as a Social Worker within the Allied Health department on an adult acute in-patient medical or surgical unit in the past year. Current Heart & Stroke Foundation CPR Certification is required (Health Provider). Demonstrated extensive knowledge of community resources. Ability to establish positive working relationships with a wide variety of patients and families. Demonstrated ability to function effectively within the interdisciplinary team. Ability to organize and set priorities. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Considerable initiative and judgment required.
Preferred Qualifications:A minimum of two years’ experience within the past five years working as a Social Worker with Allied Health on an Adult Acute In-patient Medical or Surgical Unit is preferred. Recent experience in working with patients/families facing chronic illness is preferred. Strong clinical assessment and counseling skills is preferred.
