Social Worker II
Your Opportunity:
The Rockyview General Hospital (RGH) is a metropolitan hospital with over 600 inpatient beds. RGH is located next to the scenic Glenmore Reservoir in Southwest Calgary. RGH Social Work (within the Allied Health Portfolio) works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary teams in the Emergency Department, ICU/CCU, Medical/Surgical Units, Transition Units, and Maternal/Child Units. This position is specifically for Emergency Department coverage which is a rotational days/evenings/weekends rotation. A Social Worker II position offers an opportunity to work as part of a dynamic team where the focus is on the Emergency Department with services offered 7 days a week. Operational needs may require a shift in portfolio. You will have a proven ability to work effectively within a patient-centered and interdisciplinary team environment. Your assessment and critical thinking skills will be necessary to guide your work with complex family situations while also being able to support families through a myriad of circumstances. You must demonstrate an ability to provide clinical service within a continually changing health care environment. Your proven time management skills and demonstrated initiative will be an asset to this position. A day in the life of a Social Worker II in this position will require the successful candidate to be capable of managing an unpredictable, ever-changing caseload.
Description:
As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum one-year Social Work experience in Adult Urban Acute Care. Current BLS Provider - Heart and Stroke certificate.
Preferred Qualifications:One year+ previous experience in Social Work in an adult urban acute care emergency department. Experience with crisis intervention, and grief/loss support. Experience with community resources and referral. Experience with discharge planning. Experience with Children’s Services. Experience working with homeless, addictions, and mental health. Familiarity with Advance Care planning, Financial Benefits programs and housing resources.
