AHS has an exciting opportunity for a Site Manager at the Drumheller Health Centre. This very busy facility provides a full range of services including internal medicine, surgery, and obstetrics to a large drawing area. As the Site Manager for Drumheller Health Centre, you will be responsible for providing the overall direction, leadership and organization of Drumheller Health Centre. You will also be responsible for the supervision of the Unit Manager for Acute Care. Our Acute Care Department contains 33 acute care, 4 restorative and 8 long term care beds, and provides support for general medicine, surgical, maternity, palliative care, and 24-hour emergency care. Drumheller is located 135 km from Calgary and 160 km from Red Deer, with a population of 8, 029 and is located in the Red Deer River Valley of the Alberta Badlands. The drive down into Drumheller is unforgettable as is the setting for the town, among the colorful layers of rock and picturesque canyons. The Royal Tyrell Museum features ancient dinosaur artifacts, educational opportunities and much more. Drumheller residents benefit from a wide variety of recreational facilities and amenities within the town, such as the Aquaplex for swimming, the Memorial Arena for skating and the Badlands Community Facility for fitness and library resources. This is a key leadership role and reports directly to the Area Director for Kneehill, Starland & Special Areas 2.


As Site Manager, you will be responsible for the implementation, operational management, and monitoring of integrated acute care within site by assessing, planning, directing and evaluating the operations and activities within established policies, guidelines, and regulations. The position is responsible and accountable for making site-level decisions and having direct leadership responsibility. An important part of this position is collaboration and relationship building with onsite physicians and medical director dyad partner. You will also participate in the budget process and monitor financial position of the site through variance report analyses and make key decisions regarding the integration of various resources to ensure effective, quality delivery of health services. Key responsibilities include people and relationship management, operational planning and management, change leadership and strategic planning. You will be responsible for promoting an environment that fosters quality improvement and a culture of safety and risk management for staff and patients. You will require strong communication and relationship building abilities, including facilitation, collaboration, and consultation skills, utilizing persuasion and influence, to lead the Drumheller Health Centre, and support the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum of a Baccalaureate Degree; consideration will be given to equivalencies in education and experience. Minimum 3 years’ experience in a nursing role within the last 5 years. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a leadership capacity (i.e. charge nurse or team lead). Minimum 2 years’ experience managing a unionized workforce.
