Required Qualifications:

A University Degree or Diploma in Law, Information Science, Information Management, Public Health, Business Administration, Health Sciences or related area. A minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years related information, privacy impact assessment and investigative experience in a private or public sector environment or, in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Experience in the Healthcare industry is preferred. The ability to conduct research and interpret legislative requirements highly desirable. A diverse working knowledge of information privacy principles and knowledge of Alberta's Health Information Act (HIA), Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) and other similar access and privacy legislation is required. Equivalencies will be considered on the basis of one year experience for one year education or, one year of education for one year of experience.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Experienced with legal research, investigative practice, mediation, data analysis and interpretation. Experienced with reviewing, writing, privacy impact assessments, conducting privacy investigations and privacy auditing. Experience with coaching and supervising staff. Demonstrated customer service, relationship building and networking skills. Effective communication, problem solving and consultation skills, with a keen eye for detail and respect for confidentiality. Knowledge of data evaluation methodologies, and report development. Ability to negotiate with and handle demanding clients, strong commitment to operating within a team environment, and project management experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

University of Alberta Information Access Privacy Professional Certificate. International Certified Information Privacy Professional for Canada (CIPP/C). Canadian Master Access Privacy Professional (MAPP). Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM).
