Required Qualifications:

A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Population Health, Epidemiology, Indigenous Health, Health Research or a health related field with strong analytic capabilities, accomplished written and oral communication skills, and demonstrated ability to build teams. Minimum seven years research related experience. Experience should be in an applied research environment. A minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a large health care organization required. Strong knowledge and expertise of scientific concepts, principles and methods. High level of expertise in their discipline (e.g. population health, epidemiology, Indigenous health). Broad based knowledge and expertise in Knowledge Translation and Evaluation methodologies. Strong knowledge of Indigenous research methodologies. Strong knowledge of OCAP and Metis principles for ethical research. Strong knowledge of implementation science approaches and methods. Broad based skills and knowledge of several quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and corresponding bio statistical analyses. Developed knowledge of scientific concepts, principles and methods in research, evaluation, QI, measurement and knowledge integration in the health care field.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Knowledge and sensitivity around the culture and health issues of Indigenous people as well as successful experience working in multi-cultural environments. Proven ability to foster partnerships within an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity as well as with public health agencies, government, committees, and other partners to deliver customer focused solutions. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. A demonstrated pattern of professional and personal development with previous experience mentoring staff. Demonstrated leadership skills, including demonstrated ability, and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Ability to manage diverse human resources in a changing and multifaceted environment with diverse and complex issues. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills and commitment to enhancing the quality and quantity of research output. Proven track record in preparing proposals, conducting studies, and preparation of novel knowledge translation strategies.


Preferred Qualifications:

In-depth understanding of relational databases and experience with accessing and using complex health-related data from Oracle or MS SQL servers. Knowledge and understanding of how health services and systems work together to effectively implement innovative approaches to knowledge creation and application. Advanced understanding/skills in data management, statistical analyses, and reporting tools including mapping (i.e. STATA, Tableau, and ArcGIS).
