Required Qualifications:

A PhD (or equivalent) in a health related field (e.g., epidemiology) with strong emphasis on methods expertise in population and public health, accomplished written and oral communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to build teams is required. (Those close to finishing degrees would be considered.) Ideal candidates would possess strong expertise in community epidemiology and biostatistics, including hierarchical models, spatial models and study design. A minimum five years of research related experience, including provincial work leading complex initiatives and/or projects in the area of population health or primary health care. Strong knowledge and expertise of scientific concepts, principles and methods. High level of expertise in their discipline (e.g., epidemiology). Broad-based skills and knowledge of several quantitative research methodologies including corresponding biostatistical analyses and reporting tools. In-depth understanding of relational databases including complex health-related data such as social and population data.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Proven ability to foster partnerships within an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity as well as with public health agencies, government, committees, and other partners to deliver customer-focused solutions. A demonstrated pattern of professional and personal development with previous experience mentoring staff is helpful. Demonstrated leadership skills, including demonstrated ability, and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Post-doctoral experience in a related subject field of study is favorable. Ability to foster collaboration and develop and sustain partnerships.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with types of information and data available locally and provincially through health care services, government ministries and national surveys. Previous leadership experience desired.
